OXIDATION OF ART
Iron oxide or commonly known as rust is normally formed when iron or steel is exposed to moist air environments. This remarkable chemical reaction occurs when oxygen and water react with metals.
My latest project focuses on photographing the extraordinary formations of textures and colours on rusted metals.
Images were captured in a lonely deserted village of Al Madan located in the Emirate of Sharjah 70 miles north-east of Dubai.
My first objective was to photograph the ghostly town ruins. While endlessly trying to find my ultimate composition for that day, I stumbled across some old steel gates and various other corroded materials half-buried in the desert sand. The combination of corroded metals and the interaction of the desert sand caught my attention and started capturing these wonderful colour and porous surface textures of rust created by mother nature.
Artwork titles are based on my imaginary vision.
